My Favorite Neti Pot Infused Salt

Here in the South USA pollen season is in full swing, and trust me its bad.  One of my favorite weapons against this seasonal foe is a Neti Pot.  In this post I am not going to delve into the many many benefits of using a Neti Pot, but I do encourage you to investigate it for yourself.  Usually plain sea salt or pickling salt is used for neti, but personally I like infused salts best.  Here is a recipie I really like:

  • 4 Parts Sea Salt or Pickling (canning) Salt
  • 1 Part Baking Soda
  • 5 Drops of 100% Rosemary Essential Oil.  DO NOT use fragrance oil or blends of any kind
Combine into a air tight jar and shake to incorporate the oil with the salt and baking soda.

To use simply add about 1/2 teaspoon to 8oz of distilled water in your neti pot.

The Rosemary is a very potent antibacterial and soothing oil.  It also helps to open any congestion you might be experiencing.

A wonderful alternative that I use everyday
